You've already got a foundation in Greek through classes, family, or years of study, but speaking is still the missing piece. Chats/Κουβέντες is a focused, drop-in online space to practice out loud, get feedback you can use immediately, and fit real conversation into a week that's already full.
How does it work?

Step 2: Come prepared to share your answer, ideas, stories in our speaking groups, depending on your speaking skills (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and schedule. Each Chat is ~30 min. long.

Step 3: Get feedback for your speaking on the spot: At the end of every group, your teachers share their group feedback on vocabulary, grammar points and new expressions you can use!

Doing conversation is scary in the beginning. Half the words you know fly out of your mind and aren't there when you open your mouth. However, speaking definitely consolidates learning and helps learning. Danae never makes you feel pressured.

I can do the program at my own pace, and the content is excellent. I like that there is content at different levels, that we have a short listening at the beginning of a lesson to introduce us to actual use of the word (at different speeds), that you explain things so well (with Greek subtitles and not English subtitles for the advanced level), and that we have an activity to do to reinforce the learning. How much does it cost?
Chats Greek Club: $225 one-time fee for 1 year
One-time fee for the whole learning year, September to August (this is not a membership, and you don’t get charged again). Rejoin the Club next September if you wish.
Join the drop-in conversation group(s) from September 15 - June 15 and access the Library anytime, September to August.

Chats/Κουβέντες is for A2 (upper beginner) through C2 (advanced) learners with some existing foundation in Greek. Starting from zero? Our online lessons are the better first step and once you're enrolled there, you get free access to the Chats Library and groups too.

Registration opens once a year, September 1–15. If you're enrolled in the online lessons, you get free access to both the Library and the conversation groups anytime, no waiting required.
→If you miss the September window, join the waiting list - I do occasionally open a few extra spots during the year, but it's not guaranteed.

Practice with the week's speaking prompt, then drop in to chat with us in a small, friendly group matched to your level and time zone. Each Chat runs about 30 minutes.

Most groups have 3–4 students, occasionally growing to 6–7 for popular levels, and rarely just 1–2. A typical Chat runs 30–35 minutes; if only one student joins, it's a shorter, more personal 15-minute session.

Yes - there's no obligation to attend every week, and each week's prompt stands on its own, so you won't miss "part 2" of anything. That said, the more Chats you attend, the more you'll get out of it, so it's worth being honest with yourself about how often you can realistically show up before you join.

If you're comfortable with everyday tools like Zoom, email and links, you'll feel right at home. After registering, you'll get a welcome email with your Zoom link, Library login, and full schedule - worth saving somewhere easy to find. All you need each week is a device with Zoom, a stable connection, and a couple of minutes to check your email for the prompt.

Definitely. Many members are also studying with a tutor or another course; Chats/Κουβέντες is built purely for speaking practice, so it fits alongside whatever else you're doing. If you want regular, low-pressure conversation practice at an affordable price, this is exactly what it's for.

Live groups run September 15 - June 15, with breaks at Christmas (2 weeks), Orthodox Easter (2 weeks), the first week of March, and May 1st. The Zoom link itself never closes, though; you're always welcome to hop on with fellow students during a break just to chat.

Γεια σου! Είμαι η Δανάη Φλώρου και χαίρομαι που είσαι εδώ - I’m Danae Florou and I’m so glad you’re here! Passionate about speaking, communication & etymology, I started teaching Greek in 2003, as a young Greek Language & Literature student.
I created my first speaking programs in 2018 and Chats/Κουβέντες in 2023. Students from all over the world have been learning with this wonderful community of Greek learners, while gaining more confidence & speaking ease. This has been my goal since the beginning.

Γεια σας! I’m Eirini (Ειρήνη) Kriti and I’m from Athens. I’m a graduate of Secondary Education from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a special interest in inclusive education, child development and learning.
I’ve been teaching since 2022, and in 2024–2025, I also had the opportunity to spend an Erasmus semester in Warsaw, Poland. These experiences have taught me the value of patience, creativity and understanding that comes with learning.
I enjoy creating a welcoming space where students feel comfortable communicating, participating and learning. I’m really looking forward to meeting you and having lots of fun conversations in Greek!

Γεια σας! I’m Evdoxia (Ευδοξία) and I’m from Athens. I’ve been teaching Greek as a second/foreign language, ancient Greek and History to children and adults since 2001. I am a graduate of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Athens, and I hold an MA in “Education and Human Rights”. Since 2022, I’ve been living in Lausanne, Switzerland, with my family. Aside from Greek, I speak English, French and Italian.
I love learning! As a teacher, I’m actively participating in trainings on: modern teaching techniques, adult education, human rights & intercultural education and teaching Greek as a second foreign language.

Γεια σας! I’m Sofia Roilidou and I’m from Athens. Since 2004 I’ve been living in Madrid, Spain. I’ve been teaching Greek as a second/foreign language to ages 3-83 since 2000, when I graduated from the Philosophy, Education & Psychology department in the University of Athens.
My teaching approach is fun, methodic, and dynamic! I’m fascinated by how the human brain works and learns. I hold a PhD in Neuroscience and a Master’s degree on Cognitive Neuropsychology from the Complutense University of Madrid. I can’t wait for you to join us in this language adventure!
